A Beach In My Back Yard

We once listened to Brent Burns' hit song I've Got A Beach In My Back Yard with yearning...  We yearn no more and our palm trees are NOT plastic!  We're THERE!

Amidst a whirlwind schedule of activities with our kids and repairmen, punctuated by the Deep Freeze of January 6-7... (we've finally managed to escape the REAL cold)... we found ourselves with sunshine and a free afternoon!

And we knew just what to do with it!  We dug our swimsuits out of their deep storage places, threw some stuff into a the beach bag my office gave me when I retired... and headed for our back yard!

We joined crowds of other Sunseekers and soaked up some Rays!  Having lived on the boat through last summer, we both had some pretty nice tans... but those were all gone!  It's time to start over!

Our memories of all the cold anchorages and blustery windy sails of recent weeks melted away.  While Bruce people-watched, I closed my eyes and drifted while the sun, although weak, gently warmed my skin.  I could feel it knocking out all those bad cloudy thoughts, allowing room for the sunny good thoughts to resume their rightful place in my head.
I'll admit that I was almost a Goner!  My attitude had suffered a near fatal hit.  I could NEVER live in a place where the sun seldom shines.  I NEED it!  While Clearwater Beach is more "touristy" than the beaches of our dreams... today, it's the beach in our backyard and we're lovin' it!

    1. LOL Thanks Marie, but you didn't see how many shots my poor husband had to take to get an angle that doesn't show my old woman belly! I wouldn't subject people to me in a bikini but I have a long torso and the one piece suits and even the two piece long ones just don't fit me well... Hey! Glad you're getting to come to Florida to get out of the frigid temps. I'm hopping that you didn't suffer the deep freeze too badly! Maybe we'll be close enough to visit!

  2. I hear you about the swimsuits. I too have a long torso. I wear a lot of tankinis. I try to find talls or long torso suits. I am lucky sometimes. I was just digging through our summer clothes thinking that I need to hit Bealls when I am in Florida and look for some new suits for this summer. I will wear a two piece out on the water when it is just hubby and I. He is the only when that gets that lovely sight. : ) I'll keep up with your blog and we'll see where you are and where we are the second week of February

    1. I always shop the end of summer sales at Dillards for CHEAP swimsuits. I've probably got 20 on board... I definitely have several that will not be seen on the blog so as to protect the innocent... It would be so great to meet up with you and the hubby! Give us a holler!
