Getting Started

We have enjoyed the blog postings of Karl and Jan Stein for so long and have been thinking about beginning one of our own. We have just been waiting for an event to get us going. Well, the event has happened.

This year the 46th Annual Navy Day Regatta happened on August 2nd and 3rd. It began really on the Friday night before, with the kickoff party at the Bay Yacht Club in the Corpus Christi Marina. Bruce and I had our best man, Chuck and his lovely significant other, Sally in from out of town. Sally planned our wedding 4 years ago in Newport, Rhode Island, near her home in Providence. We finally lured her to Texas with the promise of fun and sun. Chuck and Sally helped us sail Elan from our slip in the Port Aransas Marina up the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, across the Corpus Christi Bay and into our transient slip at the CCYC. It was a perfect day catching up with Chuck and Sally.

We met up with the rest of our crew for the weekend at the evening mixer at the BYC. We had Clay and Krystal , Mark (my brother), his (unofficial) fiance, Laura all from Corpus Christi as well as Curtis and Tricia from San Antonio. We got registered in the 150 A class and moved our festivities to the local Surf Club to let our bunch get acquainted. We made an early night of it as we had a long hot weekend ahead.
