Why didn't we think of this before?!... It was such fun and so EASY! What is the real point of a Club Cruise anyway? We sail or motor to wherever, then we park or anchor out within close proximity to one another, we get out the food and fly our flags, then we hang out and party. This windy weekend, we decided to do all of that, but in our own back yard. Thanks to the Corpus Christi Marina for letting us all just camp out in slips that weren't ours, we "cruised" over to E Pier and we were set.
The Club's Rear Commodore decided that it would be fun to combine a cruise with a membership drive to try to entice, er... attract new members. If they saw how much fun we are out in plain sight instead of our normal away-from-home obscurity, they would want to be a part of it... right?
We all moseyed over there and found slips, then we got out the pot luck appetizers and set up the bar... then we waited for the guests to arrive. Hard work, I know...
We had Melissa and Michael in town and had hoped that they would stay aboard. I guess that's one of the downsides of having the boat so near the house... you intend to sleep aboard, but when it comes time to hit the sack, it's just as easy to drive back home to sleep in comfort instead of camping out like sardines. Oh well, we'll get 'em eventually. We partied until Midnight then crept to our floating bed. Nice to get up with the sun and have no long trek across the Bay to face. Just the simple skip back to our own slip then on to something else.
