It was such a learning experience but we wouldn't have wanted to do it without radar. At times I could not see 10 feet past the bow but talking to parked barges who had radar helped guide me. Little did I know that the New Orleans fog of Jan 2011 was the worst that they had in the area in 10 years, We had a full 10 day of heavy fog and nothing was moving on the ICW. I know your feeling.Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13379841294652298199noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5377250274517734866.post-69994482162011538622013-12-19T19:59:06.454-04:002013-12-19T19:59:06.454-04:00Yes, and cheers to many more!Yes, and cheers to many more!Tammy Swarthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06779759048984133676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5377250274517734866.post-59761759510558354382013-12-19T15:06:33.456-04:002013-12-19T15:06:33.456-04:00We looked at the Municipal at St. Petersburg when ...We looked at the Municipal at St. Petersburg when we went through there by car a couple of years ago and Bruce fell in love with the place. We are considering spending some time there on our way through, but would like to find a place closer to our daughter's house. We are looking at either Clearwater or Pasadena. I did see the mooring field you mentioned, and think it would be a great place for us since we're cheap! Within WALKING distance you will have tons of restaurants, museums, drug stores, grocery stores (Publix ~ like an HEB), etc.

The most central location is the City Marina transient price is about $2/ft: http://www.stpete.org/marina/ Please note: no Wi-Fi

The least expensive option is the mooring field in the Vinoy Basin (but this puts you far away from Publix) – not sure of rates. There is now a north office in the mooring area. It is no longer necessary to stop at the City fuel dock before going to the mooring field. Call them at 727-893-7927, give credit card, length of boat and they will assign a ball number and bring you a key at the dingy dock.

The nicest facility is Harborage Marina with floating concrete docks (still very central to downtown and close to Publix). This is where we keep Cream Puff. I’m not sure of the rates but ask for Brian or Sean and tell them Mark from Cream Puff sent you and they will take care of you.
Phone: (727) 821-6347
Fax: (727) 896-6227
Email: harborage@marinasintl.com
Marina Manager: Brian Sweeney

Safe Travels,

Mark

Mark and Cindy
s/v Cream Puff
www.creampuff.usMark and Cindy - s/v Cream Puffhttp://www.creampuff.usnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5377250274517734866.post-85021869276147021552013-12-11T11:43:44.654-04:002013-12-11T11:43:44.654-04:00Well thank you for that. My husband wants to put up sails, but I say no, because of my fear of the unknown... Today, we're trying to break free of that. We will anchor out the next four nights at least, instead of choosing a warm and safe harbor... Wish us luck!Tammy Swarthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06779759048984133676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5377250274517734866.post-3187771469542652712013-12-11T11:06:38.889-04:002013-12-11T11:06:38.889-04:00We all question what seen to be foolish choices, b...We all question what seen to be foolish choices, but look at the experience you have gained!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07341215849390484598noreply@blogger.com
