Congratulations Melissa!

I have no photos of the race, but I wanted to post my Congratulations to my oldest daughter Melissa on her completion of the half Marathon this past Sunday morning. She pledged to raise $2000 to help find a cure for Leukemia by obtaining donations and completing this Run/Walk event. She trained and raised funds over many months, going from a "non-athlete" to a winner right before my eyes.

Melissa crossed the finish line alone near noon on Sunday November 16th, a fact that I regret. I would have loved to be there to see her finish. She raised the $2000 which would have come from her own pocket had she not had such a positive response to her (and my own) requests for donations. I would also like to take this moment to thank those of my friends and family who donated to this worthy cause in Melissa's name.

I have thought back through the years of raising my daughter, and have come to the realization that at this moment, I am more proud of her for this accomplishment than I was at her first steps as a toddler. Just about everyone walks at some time... but only a special few ever run a marathon. Congratulations on a spectacular feat Melissa!

Love Mom

  1. Thank you so much mom! I can't believe I actually finished it. I quit track, basketball, band, and tennis, but I didn't quit this and it is all because of you and your friends and Bruce (and our) family. Thanks to everyone.
